Leidos requires a Principal Architect to assist in the architectural design of large scale air traffic control and management systems, including critical UK infrastructure, and to support major Air Navigation Service providers in their modernization programmes. 

The Principal Architect will be a leader in their field, providing guidance to projects and programmes on the full service and system design (in this case of the infrastructure), championing the resulting designs through the governance processes gaining appropriate formal approvals.  Further, they will support the continued development of the strategic architecture and service strategy ensuring the infrastructure strategy aligns to the business requirements and industry best practice.

Required Skills and Fit:

The preferred candidate will have the following Technology and Engineering skills:

Significant experience in the strategy and design of infrastructure architectures across network, compute, storage and security domains.
Experience of many virtualisation techniques across networks, compute and storage systems.
Strong networking knowledge that will underpin your experience of delivering multi-tenanted environments – specifically IP, MPLS, VRF-Lite, BGP, Multicast etc.
Good knowledge of Cyber Security, recognising the fundamental place cyber has in the requirements and design of infrastructure.  
Ability to define a set of abstracted infrastructure services using concepts such as availability & regions zones and infrastructure containers including the ability to design how these services need to be implemented. This not only includes the technology design but also key aspects of the people and process designs to ensure these services work effectively.
Good knowledge of ITIL and Service operation management.
Experience of large scale integration programs.
Experience of Service Oriented architecture and design
Systems engineering skills including knowledge of Requirements management, 
Performance/capacity analytics and modelling
Knowledge of systems/service transition

In addition the successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience and personal characteristics:
10+ years demonstrated expertise designing, implementing and integrating Enterprise-grade technical solutions meeting complex business requirements
Ability to provide clear technical leadership
Strong problem-solving and triage skills with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment
Strategic thinker, coupled with a pragmatic hands-on approach to getting the job done
Quick learner with an in-depth understanding of the capability 
Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation), including the ability to listen effectively
Ability to self-manage and work independently, work to tight deadlines, prioritize workloads and work with related internal business functions such as commercial, legal and finance.
Owing to the nature of our business and operations, you must be eligible for UK Secret security clearance.

Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Ideally require a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University.  Will also consider individuals with equivalent experience I combined education
