We are now hiring a talented Software Architect to help build our world-class software solutions.


This is a senior role which requires you to work closely with client, project and service delivery management teams. You will be required to provide analysis of new and existing systems - by reviewing existing technical documentation or creating new documentation, source code and configuration, you will be required to assess the current architecture, technologies, security and platforms (e.g. OS and tooling etc.) and to produce technical reports for the client and project teams.

We can offer a variety of projects with a number of well-known national agencies.  The projects you work on will have significant national impact, helping to make the UK safer, healthier and more efficient.  Typically you could be involved with cloud migration programmes, greenfield or brownfield application development at scale, advising customers of optimal uses of technology to fit their needs, introducing new technologies, guiding multi-supplier development teams or helping to respond to technical proposals.

Alongside your technical prowess, you will have experience of managing high performance technical teams. This will involve pastoral care, mentoring, performance management, resource and capability planning. You will have responsibility for guiding and mentoring technical team members, helping them grow and achieve their goals.

The Software architect key responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical architecture development and maintenance of application architectures and developments
  • Direct, monitor and review the technical delivery of application changes
  • Present application architecture recommendations to stakeholders
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to refine solution requirements and derive detail implementation level requirements
  • Ensure the technical architecture meets the required internal and external compliance frameworks
  • Continuously review and propose improvements

You will have excellent communication skills coupled with a significant combination of the following:

  • Experience of creating and successfully delivering enterprise level software solutions based on the Microsoft development stack (C#, ASP.Net, MVC, Visual Studio, SQL Server)
  • Experience of working in Agile teams
  • Experience of acting as a technical lead where you are responsible for the technical, and in some aspects, functional design of the system
  • Track record working with collaboration and software life cycle tool sets (e.g. JIRA, VSTS, GIT)
  • Experience of implementing, or integrating with common COTS products such as BMC Remedy, SCCM,SCOM, BPPM, SCORH and SharePoint
  • Solid writing skills to include creating High-Level and Low-Level Designs, Concepts of Operation, use cases, and interface control documents to be utilised through other systems

In an ideal world, you'll have some of the following:

  • Experience of open source development software and ecosystems
  • Experience with Service Catalogues such as Remedy SRM and Kinetic Data
  • Experience working with other teams e.g. Infrastructure teams in enabling applications to have SSO with the use of ADFS.
As a senior technology professional you will be:
  • A true team player, with an attitude that enables getting the job done by collaborating with internal and external team members
  • Proactive in the introduction of new technology and design patterns through leading successful software development projects
  • Experienced in producing both high and low level design specifications
  • Insistent on ensuring delivery of clean, quality code within a software development environment, and ensuring more junior engineers do likewise
  • Willing and able to pass on the benefit of your experience in technology to your team in order that they continue to grow and succeed
